Cut Your Risk of Rheumatic Arthritis by Half

A new study published in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases medical journal, concludes that eating a weekly portion of salmon, or regular servings of other fish, could decrease your chances of developing rheumatoid arthritis by half. This recent publication is the latest in a trend of studies, showing regular fatty-fish consumption can be beneficial to your health.

Researchers underscored omega-3 fatty acids as being the key component in fish responsible for the reduced risk of Rheumatic Arthritis development. Consequently, certain fish are considered to be more productive in this regard, due to their high concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids. Fatty fish such as salmon, trout, and mackerel are the best sources of omega-3s.

The study also noted that such risk-reducing benefits call for at least regular consumption of fatty fish over a ten-year period. Like most healthy foods, a serving here and there isn’t going to work magic. The health benefits derived from a good diet are seen over the course of a lifetime.

The ability of omega-3 fatty acids to reduce inflammation is not a new discovery. In fact, omega-3s have been shown to reduce the symptoms of, and even prevent degenerative joint conditions, like arthritis.

Currently, millions of people suffer from Rheumatic Arthritis. The majority of people see the onset after the age of forty, when joints become painful, normal flexibility decreases, and mobility becomes limited. If you had the chance to reduce your risk of developing arthritis with this joint pain remedy, why wouldn’t you?

According to the study’s results, you can dramatically reduce your risk of Rheumatic Arthritis by adding in at least one serving of fatty fish every week. If possible, choose wild caught fish over farm-raised, with the former typically having higher concentrations of beneficial substances, like omega-3 fatty acids.
